Pueblo Motor Speedway - recap of the Leggy (BIG file)

Recommended Posts

Had a GREAT day down in Pueblo, also had a nice showing of some Subaru's (2 Legacy's, 2 08 WRX's, 1 04 STI, 1 08 STI and 1 Sabb 9-2x)especially considering this is a BMWCCA performance driving event.

Drove 150 miles (between my wife and I) and went thru 20 gallons of 105 / 91 octane mix in a little over 10 hours of the driving event (4 - 40 minute track sessions)

The Legacy did us Subaru owners proud! We had at least 3 separate driving enthusiasts (1-S4 owner, 1-E46 M3 owners, and a BMW service tech) come up to me and my wife and comment on how nice the Legacy look, sounds and flies on the track. Everyone was surprised that the Legacy could be as fast or faster then a WRX STI. Even had two BMW instructors comment (1-EVO 8 owner and the other a E46 M3 owner) comment"whoa that's a fast car!!

Is nice to see the upgrades are paying off! This track was designed for the Green. 2.2 miles with 10 turns and 2 straight aways (one that is slight longer then 1/4 mile the other about 900 yards). Passed everything except a 08 M coupe, 06 911 Turbo and a race prepped 2002 turbo...granted it's not a race and it's more about the driver then the car, all I can say is the extra 150+ hp from the Green does make it easier!!

Here are some pictures and small vids (sorry used by camera so the quailty isn't that great) of the day...enjoy!

Waiting at the Grid - nice showing of cars from a Porsche Turbo to a Mini and of course Bimmers

Very nice, gg! Damn... you flew by that S4.

Turn 10 is very fast (that is the turn onto the straight away).....both my wife and I easily hit around 125 by the end of the striaght before you hit a double apex right hand turn (have to slam the brake and sometimes the ABS light came on...)

Lat year the 911 Turbo hit 150ish on the same staright away...yikes!

Geeesh... your wife races too? No wonder she is so tolerant of your mods. Some in-car video would be nice. Take your rig (well, both of 'em) to Bandimere... I'm curious to see how they do in a straight line.

I don't think it's too hard to get 1.9-2.0 launches. I might go to Bandimere tomorrow actually.. I want a 1.79 60' and a 12.79 but I might wait another month or two.

Where is the October event? If it's the CSP track, I'm probably interested... I'd be stronger on a slower track and less likely to total my car against a wall. ;)

It's pretty cheap considering the track + instructor + class room time. I believe it's $175 a day (you can sign up for Saturday + Sunday or just one day) + you have to join the BMWCAA for $40.00 (annual membership) where you get invited to other motorsport events, a monthly Roundel magazine and other stuff for bimmers.

I would love to join you guys at bandimere but I have to pick up the legacy at SUBA...just got the intercooler sprayer installed (plus brakes bled and oil change)...give me a ring you never know :)

I felt the car more then ran with the big boys....( E92 M3's, M coupes supercharged, etc...) I ran the same car last year stock (w/just Brembo's BBK F/R and Accessport stage1) and it was running well with the E36 M3's but having some trouble with the E46 and E92 M3's....with the STI swap+ I easily ran down everything except a 911 turbo and race prepped cars. Now you have to always consider the driver...I'm sure if I went against my instructor he would have beat me in a yugo  I can tell you I am 100% happy with the set up. The FP Green HTA is a GREAT track turbo! This is also on stock Spec B suspension and all season tires! Next upgrade is swap bars, endlink +braces and track tires + wheels!

P.S. My wife's words - "This is a kick ass car" nuff say!

Rota tarmac III 18x7.5 or 8 (can't remember) and Yokohama all season 235x45x18 - great all round tire but not sticky enough for track use. Actually looking for a nice track only tire...have a set of 18x8 ProDrive PFF in gun metal gray off my old Forester sitting in the garage that I can use as light track wheels

Note to self....don't use your all season tires for track duty. Just picked up the car for Suba (intercooler sprayer installed, brakes bled, oil change) and the Yokohama's are toast. nice little chuncks missing from all 4... Good thing I have another set in the garage on Prodrive PFF's!

Nice little dimples...YIKES!

umm, not a z. I'm not sure but it's either a spec 944 or a rx7. I'm leaning toward the 944 spec.

But looks like you had a great time.

A bunch of places sell the kit Mach V, King of parts now Fred bean and others. They are from a 04-05 STI I believe?? The fronts fits perfect the rears you need to cut the dust shield and get special adapters that Mach V sells for our application. I bought my from Buru here on the forum.

I believe the fronts retail NEW for $1500ish and the rears for about the same. But you can find a used pair for much cheaper.

The only unfortunate thing about these brake kits (for my car anyway) is that I can't put my winter wheels (stock) back on as they require at least 17x7.5" wheels. :(
My 9.3 cups EJ22 makes me feel like my **** is 2.8 decimeters!
