If my altenator would have gone out in the Jetta I would've had to take the whole front of the car off to replace it. It is ridiculous the way things were put in there. I had the VR6 in the mine and it filled about every inch of that engine bay.
I like those A4s. But the problem with those is the 1.8T. That is a very picky engine. You have to change the oil with full synthetic every 3k or less so they don't sludge up.

I'll stick with my 89GL... There's more ground in the engine bay than there is engine.

I was very close to buying an oldschool Audi 90 2.8L 5MT. But the more I found out about how crazy it was to fix them and how expensive the parts were I just went away from that decision...
Honest, I was after the AWD and it looked like the most competent car in my price range. I aml very glad that I went Subaru with my decision. My car is very fun to drive and parts are cheap and very interchangeable between the WRX and STI siblings in the line up.

Just doing a serp belt in the VW was a chore that took an hour or more. The 2.8 is a very good engine IMO. The VW was chain driven, I had to have the chains done because, of course, two months after I buy it I start hearing it rattle around in there. But after that was done I never had any issues. The Audi 2.8 was belt driven though.

In 2011 the Subaru Foresters engine changed to being chain driven. And for the 2012 model year the Legacy and Outback's engines followed suit, IIRC. All that summerized... The 2.5 is now chain driven lol

^^^yea, ain't that just a crappy idea on Subaru's part? They nicknamed it Siamese port. I call it blob-like exhaust port.

I think I'll refer to it as the B.L.E. port engine now.

Doesn't it have one round port, and one blob port on each side?
The blob port is big enough to have at least the volume of two round ports.
