macarpiem
Hello. I just picked up my PERRIN FMIC,and start to read the instruction. ''The stock Legacy turbocharger will not work with this FMIC.the use of a WRX/STI style turbocharger is necessary.'' So my question is whats the difference between LGT and WRX/STI turbochargers? What kind of turbo is good for me? pls help. Thx Arpo
m sprank
STi turbo is rotated 90 degrees. Also, has no flange (uses hose coupling). Can't tell you what turbo is good for you, thats for you to decide. Most require other upgrades besides the turbo. Might be easier to have a flange made (or buy the one for sale on the forum now) and modify the Perrin FMIC.
RdiggA
http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124768 <--heres the flange. THen you could rig something up to make it fir onto the rest of the piping.

Goyim
since when did Perrin start including that piece? that's sweet
m sprank
For the $1300 you think they could afford to add it. Now how about keeping the bumper beam intact and making the price reasonable.
Mega Users LieutenantDan Posted November 17, 2009 Mega Users Share Posted November 17, 2009 Money must not be an issue......if the brand new FMIC doesn't fit, the turbo obviously needs to be replaced. Hopefully this will be a professional installation.....

macarpiem
Have fun with the installation! Make sure you start on Friday night so you have 2 extra day just in case something goes wrong! -Thats a good ideal,i'll keep it mind;) Here is a pic of the intercooler. yeah i was a long process 'cuz nothing on stock.(backorder) i had to wait a lot. i got it from the Perrin website,it was a sale 18% off.so i got it arrond 1200. from 1500. I find out my CAIntake is no god,i have to change to a short ram intake. so i hope this weekend we can install these bad boys:cool:
FireB
I don't know if they gave you the regular Worm Gear Clamp or T-Bolt for the connections. If they only gave you the Worm Gear, I suggest you at least to get the T-Bolt Clamp for the "Hard to Get" area (Like behind the bumper) so you won't have a problem later on. Taking the bumper off is not that bad but after you are tired, you will hate to take it off multiple times.

m sprank
The inlet hose and pulley are a snap. The fuel pump depends on brand and modification required (make sure to be low on gas when you pull it). The FMIC is prob the toughest/most frustrating part of the job. The OEM TMIC is worthless and the tune, well you get a better one now. Have fun.
Infamous1
The inlet hose and pulley are a snap. I beg to differ, inlet installs are a pain and hardly worth it.
m sprank
Remember, Shamar is a GREAT tuner. Thats why he tunes. I'll do your wrenchin Shamar, you do my tune(s). I'll bust that inlet hose out lickedy split. Is there more ponies from it? Shamar knows better.
FireB
Good you won't have trouble then. But make sure they are the right size.....LOL Mine was some other brand FMIC but it came with bigger T-Bolts that did not even hold the hose in place.... I'm sure Perrin's QC is good enough for that but you can always be cautious!
