People with BC coilovers-

Recommended Posts

How do they come ride height wise out of the box? I've installed a couple sets on an 05 wrx and sti...the coilovers out of the box were perfectly set for a practical yet sporty ride height, even between front and rear. Literally no adjustment was necessary.

Anyone have pics of the bc ride height out of the box?

The came pretty set pretty high for me. I lowered mine about another 1/2"-3/4" all around.

I've had mine for almost 4 years now. Trist me, spend a little more money and get a good set of coilovers. These things ride like a brick. If I could do it again, I would have gotten the KW Variants or RCE TM2's. Send more money now, save aggravation and discomfort later.

4 years isn't a bad lifespan for entry level coilovers! I have oem struts on ralliteks for 50k miles. They are clunk galore:

that sounds horrible. I'd get those replaced.

I read a bunch of reviews on the BC coils and they had good reviews. Until I tried them myself. They are junk. They are all over the place in ride quality. If your on some smooth roads, its all great. But once you hit actual city streets, :spin:. I'm with YN-TGL. Spend the extra money and get a nicer set of coils.

I've ridden in many BC'ed cars, I liked them a lot. I do feel the difference when riding in a KW'ed sti opposed to the BC's. But IMO it was negligable. For the price of $900, IMO you can't beat it for entry-level coilovers. First hand, certainly better than ISC's in terms of build quality

Did they ride like crap from the start? How many miles are on them? I've had mine for several thousand miles now and I'm very happy with them. Do you think yours are in need of a replacement or rebuild?

They rode ok for a like a year or so... Then they just felt hard and sloppy (that's what she said)... The dust boots on all 4 are torn and the collars and thread are all rusted out. They have about 50k on them I'd say. I'm sure they are due for a rebuild but I'm saving my money for a real set.

+1 Here for spending a bit more for higher quality coilovers. Mine are certainly coming off this winter after one year with the BC's.

The BC's are probably an acceptable affordatble alternative for the track or on smooth roads, I could never find the correct setting on these to get the correct balance of comfort and handling - either the car rides like rock or it is bouncy and dispite having 30 settings on the dampers anything below 10 or above 17 is not really useable.

This is what mine looked like after raising the back half an inch - I believe this is an approx drop of 1.1" and 0.5" front and rear respectively from stock.

No, stock meaning the height of original suspension.

This picture is OEM settings of the BC's with the rears upped half an inch. If you can visualise the cars rear half an inch lower that would be OEM settings on the BC's.

I got mine put on a few weeks ago.. I dropped the front a bit though.. think it's about 1" gap in the front, .5" in the rears.

I have them on the softest damper setting and they are quite a bit stiffer than stock, but I've had worse with Tien basics.. IMHO, these aren't bad for the price. If price isn't a concern, RCE's are the way to go.
