New Shoes, now I could use help.

OK, I bit on the Black Friday sale and picked up some of the ALT Sek-Tor forged wheels from Import Image. I went down to Discount tires and had some 225-40-18 /continental DSW's put on. The good news is that the rims look awesome. The bad news is I have some rubbing in the back. The wheels are 18x8 with a +48 offset.

Would a good fender roll put me in business? Or should I look at getting different tires, or is the offset of the wheels just completely wrong? This is the first time that I have got new wheels so any input would be appreciated.

you sure those tires are 225/40/18??

they look HUGE

225 on an 8 should be just square not bulging

and tires look like they have a 50 side profile

and im running 18x9.5 +38 with 225/40/18

no rubbing in the back only the front, but I have a sedan with half rolled fenders

coils also helps to reduce the rubbing

Well, I guess I should check their work before I leave next time. I checked the tires and they are 255-40-18's. No wonder they look big. I checked my invoice and it says 225-40-18, so I will have to take them back on Monday. I guess I was rushing a bit to make it home in time for the SEC championship game.

Besides going down to the 225's that I asked for, should I try for less sidewall? What do you guys think?

i think you can sell those tires easily on nasioc, probably for more...

then get yourself a set of 225/40/18

they are perfect for our non-spec b lgts...

225/40 will be less sidewall so don't worry about it. 225/40 is the ideal setup IMO. My last set was 235/40 and you the car feels less nimble and no more stable.

Oops....did I have that much beer last night?

Meant to say having 235s didn't add grip (*edit* I'm sure it technically did but at stage2 power level grip is not a limiting factor) but made the car feel less nimble and heavier. Happier with 225/40. :)

Dunno - I'm running 215/45x17 Dunlop WinterSports on 17x7 +55 stock wheels and -1 rear camber (dropped ~1.0") and I'm getting rubbing on the fender liner. Had no problems whatsoever with the 225/40x18 MPS ASes on the Volk 18x8 +46 so there's likely a section width difference with the winter shoes that we don't typically see with the summer ones... otherwise I have no clue.

Alright, I made a trip to the tire shop and I got the 225-40-18s put on. Yeah, that made a pretty big difference. No more rubbing and it looks so much better. I will get some pics up tomorrow when I have more daylight. Thanks for the help.
