mazdaspeed 6 great googly-moogly

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gone to the mazda usa site and checked out the mazdaspeed 6?

It is pretty much what all of the lgt fan base has been clamoring for, although still a bit underpowered.

Some of the features:

I believe its a 2.3l single scroll turbo w/intercooler

274hp @5600rpm

280tq @3000rpm

6speed tranny

LSD

navi (option-even on six speed manual)

there is more of course here is the link

www.mazdausa.com

any who, it looks to be what some of us are looking for in a modestly priced nearlux sports sedan.

It's still a Mazda

Dont be hatin on Mazda...

Zoom Zoom...

They arent bad cars. Just not a Subie... I would rather have a mazda than a Kia, Daewoo, Hyundai, Suzuki, ect...

They rate about the same as Honda and Nissan in my books. Maybe a bit higher.

If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off.

looks like they're finally starting to show at dealers and the first people are getting thier hands on them now...

The initial reviews are very positive.

I'm leasing because my wife has a business and it is officially the company car. I write off a large portion of the lease payment on my taxes. I am leasing instead of buying primarily because while I finish my residency I can keep the payments lower than if I finance. Once I am done my program I will buy it outright.

Anywho......this fucking car rocks! It is really raining now so I won't take any pics yet, but it is the shit!

The Mazda Canada Rep from Toronto was here and personally presented the car to me. The silver MS6 was delayed so right now this is the only one in Ottawa. They tinted it for free and they presented me with Mazda watches for my wife and I. Some additional Mazda goodies are apparently on their way as well.

As for the drive....? Tons of torque and NO turbo lag. Pulls like a monster in every gear. Clutch, as reported yesterday, is very, very touchy compared to the MSP. I stalled it about 6 or 7 times on my inaugural cruise. The keyless entry/ignition is awesome as well. Although not as loud as the MSP stereo, the Bose system is more than adequate and its subwoofer doesn't eat up all the trunk space like the MSP unit.

It is definitely a bigger car. You can feel it when you are decelerating (although the brakes grip like demons) or changing lanes. Its weight doesn't seem to matter much when accelerating though.

These are first impressions after keeping revs mostly below 3000 RPM and granny shifting. I can hardly wait until I can hammer it WOT!

Gotta run.

If this car actually delivers what it promises, it will be great. Jury is still out though until real people actually drive it.

My friend actually got the 2.3i sedan and it was dang skippy. I think that if they can improve on it, and it sounds like they did, then I am all for it.

On another tangent, this shows the marketing strategery (GB) of automanufactures.

Release a good car with nominal hp offering. Wait a few years, then release a high performance version.

I give you the examples of Audi with the A4 design. It took from 1999 to 2006 for the rs4 to make it state side.

Nissan has had the skyline forever and it is being rumored to come state side in '08.

Mitsubishi had the evo since '92 and was not released until '01

This marketing strategy has been used for ever in auto manufacturing and will continue until we all are riding segways.

wow I read that post before i wrote it and was considering a different angle for the topic but apparently that can never be done in your idium

if you don't like the topic guess what-you do not have to read it.

I know in this new era of 0 personal responsibility that this would ever cross your mind

Damnit - if SoA can only learn a lesson from the Mazda guys....

I wonder if any Spec.B deliveries are nearly as smoothly and courteously conducted as the MS6s.

Agreed.

When I purchased my Honda back in '99, the dealership made a huge fuss about it.

Pictures, shook everyone's hands, etc. etc.

That was for a Civic...

Fast forward to '05 and the Subaru dealership just shook my hands, thanking me for my money.

Oh, back on topic, I can't wait to see more drivers get in these things and report back. The power/drivetrain reads as if it's good, but the styling...

common man you first get people interested in the thread and then further the discussion with more thought.

If I replied from a thread that was posted on 9-23 roughly a month later that is not adding to a discussion, that is digging up the past

you need to live in the now

Plus if people reply with thoughtful constructive insight, then why would this be a poor topic?

the only negativity is people who need to go on a tangent about a previous post. If all were to do as you asked

the inter-net would have only three topics ever: PORN, NEWS, and GAMES without any form of sub headings.

Its slow, not that appealing to the eye as its a old model, although thats an opinion. Its pretty dam heavy. Its starts at like 27500, add in options and I can guarantee you, for the money you can find a better car. PLus aftermarket? yeah there will be some, but with all Subys now useing the same block, parts for our cars are easy to find.

Did I mention its fake awd like the new RL?

See kids, this is what happens when NASIOC is down, and e-thugs can't get their RDA of n00b-bashing for breakfast.

Calm down bud. Its not like he's asking how to hook up his MBC or something that would be better answered with a search.

I have not seen the specific numbers ie the 0-60, change lane speeds, braking distances, ect. Is it that slow?

As for it being an older model I will grant you that, but is it not fare to say that this could be the start of having a mazdaspeed 6 as part of a new redesign? the mazdaspeed 3's are supposidly coming next year, and as you said (sort of) that the 6 is in need of a refresher.
