I can not find a Legacy 2006-2008 with out a moonroof and I need the extra headroom.
Does anyone know if I have the option of puting in after market seats that are lower profile?
If so, who, what, how?
Thanks in advance!

a sport seat will help. they usually have less padding and they mount lower.

huh???
why do you want a moon roof for head room? do you plan to stick your head out of the moon roof? if your cocking your head to the middle of the cabin to use the extra half inch of room up top then i pray you dont hit a bump; you'll end up cracking the moon roof "night at the roxbury" style.

This may sound foolish, but have you gone and sat in a LGT? Make sure you put the seat down as low as it can go! I'm 6'4" with the moonroof and i fit very comfortably (even with my seat straight up!).
In fact that was one of the biggest reasons why i went from a WRX to a Legacy. It fit well around me!

Other way around. They're looking for a LGT w/o a moon roof for the extra clearance. At 5' 10", the only time I have problems with the moon roof is when I have a helmet on and I'm not in just the right position.

I'm 6'3 and am not even close to topping out. My dad is 6'6 and has always had to shop for cars with enough headroom and he fits fine. Get the limited with moon roof if you can. I love it.

I have an LGT with manual seats & no moonroof. I'm 6'3", and I have maybe 1/2" clearance sitting up properly. With a helmet on, I'm forced to lean the seat back a bit.

This is by far the biggest car I've ever owned. I've only owned Preludes and a Civic before this car. The seat did go back very far in those Honda coupes though, I was almost sitting in the back seat

Compared to a lot of other brands Subaru has a lot of headroom. I "suffer" from a long back and short legs (sort of dachshund) so my back is about 4" longer than "normal" but my legs are shorter so my total length is about average.
This means that many cars are bad and cars with sunroof/moonroof are extremely bad. And the roof of my friend's Miata gets a bump when it's up and I'm in the seat.
But the Legacy is actually OK on that part. Unfortunately it seems like they have lowered the roof on later models, so a sunroof/moonroof may be problematic for me there. That's actually one reason why I did look for a Legacy without that feature and ended up with a 2.0... Unfortunately it seems like there is some kind of mandatory forced feature to have a sunroof/moonroof on the variants representing the upper end.
I understand the issue of the OP in this case.

In an LGT without moonroof, cut a hole in the headliner for even more headroom.

Hey Guys. I appreciate all the comments. However, I have not pulled anything away from them
Some of you say you have plenty of room and some say you don't. I sat in a 2008 Legacy Limited with a sunroof. I have a long torso and sit straight up with good posture (not reclined seating) and my head is hitting the ceiling (sunroof).
One of you mentioned you getting a sport seat. Good idea, but how? Where? I called several sport auto places and said they dont make mounting kits for new Legacies. Only older models.
I have called every dealership in a 300 mile radius, auto trader, and craigslist. Not one 2006-08 legacy without a sunroof available!

Well I did sit in a 2.5i and I'm not sure why but it seemed way more cramped than my Spec.B...more so in the leg department.
Just ride it dirty and kick that seat back ;-)
Sorry I couldn't be more help!
