lofthouse_gt
I got really tired of the chrome on the back of my wagon and decided to do something about it this weekend. I went with some carbon fiber vinyl wrap from rvinyl.com. It was pretty easy to work with using a heat gun and I really like the outcome. I also had a bunch left over so I covered my wood trim and a few other pieces in and on my car. I need to take another shot of the cubby I cut out the silver tab and cleaned it up a little more. Anyway here are some pics tell me what you think.

lofthouse_gt
Yeah I'm still trying to see if I am gonna keep the cubby, but the rest I like, I am going for a whole CF theme. If I ever don't like it, the stuff just peels right off!
Gmoe
All looks great! The cubby seems a little out of place though. Also do the door handles.
Leg Man
I am with the group on this one, I think that the cubby might be too much but the rest looks good.
DocHolladay23
how did you do the plastic part in front of the handle? put the vinyl on and cut? I was going to do that too but I would rather take that part off first and can't figure out if it just pulls off or not [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? lofthouse_gt
Gmoe: I really want to do the handle but am a little worried about how curved it is, I am good ad working with this stuff but that is one h&!! of a curve. Doc: I left them in and just cut out a sheet a little bit bigger than what I needed, be sure to start from the middle and work your way out. I would be careful trying to pull them off, not quite sure how they do come off, but I watched a buddy of mine break one, so I was scared to try. The areas near the door handles are cake just take your time. If you are going to do the sides of the stereo take them out and a heat gun is your best friend here probably took me about 20 minutes each side of the stereo, but those things curve like almost 90 deg. DocHolladay23
yeah I did the sides of the stereo and the door handles, those were easy with heat and patience. I guess I'll just have to leave those pieces in when I do them [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? Hit me up here!!! lofthouse_gt
Also in case anyone is wondering this is the first time I've done anything with vinyl. I have placed a bunch of snowboarding stickers in my life, but that's it. This stuff was so easy to work with, just be careful of the heat gun, my dumb a$$ touched the tip while it was hot! OWWWWW smelled like flesh!
peteyjr
Very nicely done. I would pull the wrap on the cubby door. How do you like the Cobb shift knob? thinking about it . Tails and reverse tinted? or sprayed ?
MGV101
For the amount of effort put in, you deserve using better carbon fiber wraps. The works are top notch, but the "carbon fiber" pattern printed on the vinyl does not look convincing at all. You don't have to buy those insanely expensive 3M carbon fiber wraps but should have gotten something slightly better.

biodtl
Very nice, much improved. The 'wood' trim always bothers me.
Chameleon
looks good...i know you said you need to cut out the part for the silver to show on the cubby and i think that's really the only thing left and your done.

Do the handle.. Pop it off and apply some heat to the wrap. Pretty easy. Here's mine. Got my wrap from here. http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/ http://lh5.ggpht.com/_y662cR2205s/S7FOgWV-VEI/AAAAAAAAF60/EbLAtW9CWto/s1280/DSC05795.JPG
dazzen
The 3m wrap looks real good.... but its a sticker, I could never use this poser stuff...its totally fake no matter how real it looks.
dazzen
So when your friends get in your car and say "damn you got carbon fiber interior" whats your reply? " NO, not really its just a sticker"
Gmoe
^ Yes. Just like I said.. No, it's not real wood.

dazzen
I dont have the fake looking wood....I have the real plastic which is silver in color
lofthouse_gt
peteyjr: I like the COBB knob a lot, a much better improvement than the stocker. The tails are sprayed, I used niteshades from VHT, I've taken a liking to this stuff, I've tined a chevy cavalier, Audi A4, Toyota Highlander, BMW 5 series, VW Golf and Jetta and now my car, the VHT always seems to come out lookin better than the film.. IMO I feel like I can always see where the film was cut and tucked. Gmoe: Your interior looks freakin awesome I am gonna have to do the handles this weekend. So far I like the look of it, doesn't really bother me that it is a sticker, the color of the fake wood did though. To each his own!
lofthouse_gt
Dazzen: Did yours come with the colored plastic, I would have much rather prefered that than the wood.
Gmoe
I dont have the fake looking wood....I have the real plastic which is silver in color That would make sense if we were actually talking about YOUR car. Those of us cursed with the faux wood...would rather have a sticker. Lofthouse... black interior cars are not cursed with the faux wood. Though I did start out by doing this.... http://lh4.ggpht.com/_y662cR2205s/S7FNWCQavPI/AAAAAAAAF20/FgQUlrBYdr8/s800/014.JPG
dazzen
Ya, it did. I think the wood,"fake wood" offers more luxury while the silver looks more sporty. The 3m Carbon Fiber wrap does look real good...looks real for sure! I'm just the type of person who would be bothered by the fact that its not the "real" thing. For less anal/OCD people this product is perfect.
lofthouse_gt
Yeah I even contemplated painting the pieces for awhile, but I figured the sticker would work better for my needs.
