UPDATE: We are near the end of the development stages of this project. Prototype shocks are almost done and are close to doing the ride work testing and analysis. We have some interest as of late and that is good but we need more in order to make this happen. IF anyone is interested please contact us.

Below are a few pictures of the prototypes in the works during our STI project work in April of this year.

Proposed final look of product.

We want to get feedback from people who would like to improve the handling of their 2010LGT/3.6 without having to buy coilovers.

We are working on a "set it and forget it" SHOCK option for our USDM cars which are based on the OUTBACK platform and NOT the JDM platform. ( front subframe is different). And by set it and forget it we mean a NON damping adjustable shock.

The objective is NOT to offer a TIME ATTACK or TRACK DAY shock, nor do we expect you to have to cut open your oem shocks, getting messy oil everywhere etc and use inserts inside your stock housings. We want to make a simple set it and forget SPORT SHOCK with matching springs. To be clear this is NOT a coilover, but a OEM fitment strut/shock set up with fixed perches just like stock.

Racecomp lowering springs are already on the market and the GTWORX/BILSTEIN shocks will NOT be limited to RCE springs.

The details I have about the shocks is that the front will be inverted, the rear is non inverted, its a monotube design and will come with a lifetime warranty.

Target ride quality and performance level is BMW M5/550 SPORT level. Meaning, comfortable but German sports sedan type handling prowness.

With THAT said...I do think if a person wanted to do a track day or HPDE event these would work VERY WELL.

Again to reiterate this, this will be a ground up shock build. The front struts dont exist and so there is no car to borrow from on this design other than our USDM front as the JDM fronts ARE different. I spent alot in shipping to discover that and confirmed it with contacts in Japan at 2 different shock manufactures.

We look forward to your feedback and interest.

Myles Williams
RCE.

+1

I plan to do some light towing (dirt bike) so I'd like to have heavy duty struts and springs, without any drop. I put STI takeoffs and Tokico D-Specs on my 2002 WRX wagon for this reason and the handling/function is excellent. So far, it seems like the LGT is more underdamped than anything, and jumps around a lot on rough roads and washboard surfaces, where my WRX feels more planted.

I'm interested. There's a bit of stock slop that can be firmed up without sacrificing ride quality. It's a big touring car now and it is encourage to see that there will be aftermarket dampening to reflect that.

edit:
One thing I want to ask though with the springs -- will they be constant or progressive rate?

In RCE's other thread estimates on the struts ~ $999 and springs ~ $340, but that may have changed.

15mm drop + better damping sounds good. These cars don't need to be slammed. Subscribed.
