Catalyst
Long story short, I got my FXR's mounted and in and working. Problem is they are WAY out of alignment and using the vertical adjustments doesn't quite do it. Back to the drawing board with a mounting method. I tried using the top half of the OEM chrome mounting shroud, so that I'd still have some vertical adjustment with the screws. Wondering if anyone has any other ingenious ways to mount these babys. 300zx2g35
What you have pictured is how I mounted mine. The only thing I did differently is I added new mount points on the bottom, after I cut the stock ones off, so that it would be completely secure. How are they out of alignment? Catalyst
Ok. I went ahead and opened them up for the 3rd time since initially installing them. I made a different adapter plate that basically goes around the back of the fxr and mounts using the fxr mounting holes. With some cutting i got it mounted in the stock location perfectly level and square in reference to the stock projector. It just sits way way forward because of this. Now I think the shroud housing, the piece between the projector and the lens, Is contacting the fxr body when I put them back together. There's definetely resistance Squeezing the lights together. Catalyst
What I ended up doing. Might very well have to take them apart (AGAIN!!!) and reaim them while the lens cover is off because the pressure of the lens cover on the projector body is making adjustment screws non functional when put together. http://i42.tinypic.com/3476xdc.jpg "This is an adventure." Catalyst
Is that the FX35 or the older FX-R? My FX-R 1.1 doesnt have that tab on the top to drill holes into. "This is an adventure."

Catalyst
I'm gonna trim down my fxr's more and try and fit them like that. Im assuming the stock alignment screws work with it like that. How far/close is the lens to the shroud when it's sealed up? "This is an adventure." frkkevin
Stock adjustments work.. plenty of room from hitting the shroud. It's been like 2 years since I've done this so its hard to remember in depth details 512whp/465ftlb 2005 5EAT Legacy (Build Log) Videos - -
Catalyst
Thanks! I just reopened them again last night and mounted them kinda like you have them. Wow, did I have to cut A LOT of the stock chrome mounting platform away to get it in there AND retain the 4 mounting screw locations! Very careful dremel skills there. Trimmed the crap out of the FX-R and whamo, it's in there! Cutoffs are straight, rotation good, and adjustments work, Only problem is that they sit pretty far back from the shrouds. At some point I might open em back up and add some washers to space them out a little. But screw it for now, I'm happy. Thanks Kevin. Pics inc.. "This is an adventure." Catalyst
Yea I'm pretty sure I'm losing some of the famed width of the fx-r's because he shroud is blocked some of it. Idk it's still REALLY wide "This is an adventure."

frkkevin
nylon spacers can be added ... or washers lol. that is if you want the projector to come out a bit further. would be a lot of test fitting to get the perfect spacing 512whp/465ftlb 2005 5EAT Legacy (Build Log) Videos - -
Catalyst
Yea, especially since it's hard to tell until you have the headlight sealed back up because of how the stock shroud is attached to the lens and not the housing :/ Appreciate your help!
