Front license plate mounting

Besides just screwing the license plate front & center onto the front bumper cover, leaving the edges exposed, is there a decent way to mount a new plate that will keep it straight and decent-looking (and legal in the states that require it)?

Unfortunately, here in NJ, it's required by law to have both front AND rear plates on at all times. Retarded, I know.

Same with VA.

 

But if you're running away from the cops, it's easier to hide the plate with that gadget

Might make a good skid plate too...

It's required here in WI too, but I took mine off since only about 1/2 the cars on the road have a front license plate

Yeah the whole offset plate thing, does not appeal to me.

 

Its illegal to not have a front one here in MN too, but its usually my first mod to a car to just remove it.

Which FMIC is that? I'm going to be installing the RacerX, but may have issues with the piping blocking the bolt location.

That is the RacerX version. I grinded it down to make it fit without touching the piping. I just took it off to fix my headlights after months and months and no signs of rubbing.

Good to know. When I get in there, maybe I will see if that bracket can be

moved and rewelded into place.

When I bought my car it had a plastic mount that fit well but I didn't like how it looked. When my car was in a minor accident and the front bumper had to be repainted I took it off. Since I already had holes I purchased the Subaru mount. It's just a metal plate with a couple spacers, but it looks good. I finished the look with a pair of Altec Autocross plate frames/lens.
