Congrats on the WRX purchase. Unless Subaru comes out with a 6MT Legacy GT, I have decided that I am going to buy a new WRX as my next daily driver.

I would say that I will join you but given that you are on your third car since I bought my '12, I would guess you will be onto another car by the time I buy a WRX.

It is even more worthless when I tell you Fiona is wearing Shrek's soles on her own new shoes.

275/40/17 flaken rt 615k at +48mm offset fits with fronts rolled and rears trimmed on oem suspension. There is plenty clearance on the inside for some negatve camber.

Shrek could not fit 275 with oem struts. They rubbed with +45mm offset...3mm less than Fiona's shoes.

you bought the wrong tires. Bridgestone RE-71R is where its at. ;)

I didn't buy them...Shrek donated them to Fiona...FTW!!! :)

And, I have a second set at home.

The Bridgestones are not available in a 275/40/17. If I went with 255/40/17, the Bridgestone was one of my choices. The other ones were ZII Star Spec and AD08R. The latter for better wet handling.

I ordered Brembos for the STI through KNS Brakes.

They will be here late July or so.

326mm 4 piston fronts and 318mm 2 piston rears in Gold. Else, it was going to be $200 extra per axle for Black.

Buy me some fronts for the Teaser......please...

J/k you've got a sickness Fred. Have you signed up for a track day yet? Lol!

Disease is a better word.

LOL. Funny you should ask.

Got an email for Thunderhill 2 mile course on July 6. Seriously contemplated it but dunno. Car has only 600 miles on her and wont be properly broken in by then.

Even if I dont wring it out, oem brakes are going to suck at the track. I could try it with better pads but it wont be the same and I will just overheat my brakes.

Soon enough my friend.

Looking good Fredrik.

Its definitely more like the LGT than the previous gen wrx or sti in terms of refinement and quality of interior/features.

I really like mine and don't regret getting rid of the Sti at all.

If your looking for any parts or tuning let me know. I offer a discount on the tune if the ap is purchased through us.

Yikes...already ordered AP from Cobb. But, looking for more info on two potential paths:

1. All stock car with "very safe" 91 tune with potential to hit the track and flog the $hit out of it running the 91 map with 100 octane fuel. I know it won't gain power like my 3.6R did with 100 octane. I would do it for the margin of safety.

2. TMIC and J-pipe tuned to 91 octane. Same rules as above.

3. Your suggestions to keep the car stock-ish and quiet. Laguna Seca has a 90db sound limit.

I will get in touch soon enough. Brembos aren't due until end of July anyway.

Noticed you mentioned having a 1000 mile break-in oil change. Are you doing that for piece of mind or did the dealership do it? Curious because my new Forester XT calls for the first change at 6000 mi. That even bothers me because I change the oil in the GT every 3750 mi.

For my own piece of mind. I will change again at 5,000 miles and then every 5,000 miles after that.

For some new motor builds a 100 mile oil and filter change is recommended.

AP has arrived.

I emailed a shop close to me about doing a 1,000 mile oil change, they recommended doing it at 3,000 just because there are important components in the original oil that need to soak/bond in with the engine

These cars tend to be a little louder with cat backs than the older uel design. Be carefully with your choice if you look for quiet.

The ap will get you hooked as these engines have a lot of potential. Some of the ones I have tuned with a stage 1 put down the same as a stage 2 sti ;)

oops! They didn't disagree. Funny how you can get different answers from different places. I got three different answers for an unrelated question when I spoke with three shop foremen of different dealerships.

Did you check with a local race shop or with subaru?

OTS stage 1 91 octane is in.

Too soon to tell, but I like the fact that boost doesn't hit 22psi at 2,000 rpm. The car is a lot more linear.

The boost and rev surge is gone. The car is actually driveable.

I just discovered flat foot shitfting feture...wow! I wish I used it at the 1/4 mile track. Revs can be set up to 8000. I set it to 3000.

If you haven't, get an accessport and flash the appropriate map.

Well worth the money.

Flat foot shifting...you start out in first gear, push in the clutch, shift the car into second, and release the clutch. You do not lift your foot off the gas pedal.

You may program at which rpm you wish the revs to be maintained in that split second it takes to shift.

I chose 3,000 rpm. So, what happened while I shifted? The revs "slowly" went down toward 3,000 rpm, but my shift was done by the time the revs hit 5000 rpm, and off I went.

In normal shifting where you lift off the gas without the flat-footing it, revs drop "fast" and the car bogs when you let go of the clutch. My EVO 8 did not have this problem, but this 2.0 DIT twin scroll does have this problem.

Might be worth raising that a little if you plan to use it for higher gears. I haven't actually used it at all, though, so I don't really know how fast the revs drop off. Does setting it that low keep you in boost? Also, launch control exists, that should be fun once the novelty of flat foot shifting wears off.

I'm actually curious about the final drive, though- does the formula [current gear]+"0" = [speed at 2000 RPM] seem at all accurate (10mph in 1st, 20 in 2nd, etc.)? I'm sure the easier way to check would be to look on cars101.com and compare, but my phone internet sucks at work. Just wondering exactly how similar the new WRX is to the 5th-gen GT.
