I was wondering if it would be possible to swap the rear seats to 07'+ Legacy or other subaru model rear seats that fold down? For instance these rear seats out of an 07' FSXT look pretty much EXACTLY like the fabric on my 05' un-limited (not sure on measurements however):

Possible? Has anybody done it?

I can't believe these cars didn't come with folding rear seats in the first place. Hell, my 95' Legacy L had folding rear seats.

I believe the 07+ are structurally different to where it is not possible to retrofit the fold down seats. Search the forums, people have tried it before, as far as I recall.

It is actually possible. A couple of people have done it, but you'll have to run a search on it. IIRC a person wrote out everything you needed to purchase from the dealership and it came out to ~$550.

Did a little digging and found these threads:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...r+seats&page=3
http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54778

Not exactly a walkthrough and no complete parts list/numbers. Has no one else done this other than acooper?

Here's the post I was talking about:

Here is what the dealership told me. THEY DONT KNOW, I wasn't surprised to hear that. So I asked them what I will need. Apparently the actual cloth around the seat is a seperate part? Thats what they said at least and that cost 268.00 The other two parts didnt cost to much. One was the frame and the other was the 60/40 split were seat. It looks like it will work.
When we checked out the diagram it looked like the seat is attached to the plastic frame and the plastic frame is clipped into the same spot as the old seat. the told cost is going to be around 550.00. I dont know if it is worth it. I may have to wait a few months or so and wait untill 07 legacys start making it into the junk yard. We will see.
Unfortunately he was never able to provide the actual part numbers.

I apologize for my misinformation. I must have stopped looking into this after the first few posts of the above-mentioned posts.

hmmm, I guess I'll to have to keep a look out in junkyards. I would need an 07' 2.5i with cloth seats though. My 05' unlimited might be kinda funny looking with cloth in the front and leather on the back seats.

I have been on the look out myself. You should be able to use the cloth seats from a non-limited 2.5i or GT.

05' was the only year for the non-limited GT. So 2.5i seats it is.

Absolutely. I'm going with 07' Spec B seats, which are black leather with blue suede inserts. Might look kinda funny with my stock black cloth fronts, but frankly I don't care. I just want some damn fold down rear seats.

At least my exterior is blue so the seats will sort of match that

i think I would just go to the dealership and buy seats to an 07 that match my interior colors... and then I would install them myself.
