Catalyst
Just scooped up some Phillips Xtreme Power halogens and wondering if I should leave it or fill it. I know they don't throw out the glare of HIDs, but was wondering none the less. "This is an adventure."

mr_luv
The little metal flap attached to the shield reflect the light up to upcoming lighten signs. Mr.
bnguyenbb6
Its actually a hole in the cut off shield. I filled mine in when I had an HID kit. It ended up dying so I went back with a halogen and the cutoff looks much better. Id you are taking your headlights apart to clear them or paint them then I'd just do it, takes 2 mins tops. MiniStiGuy
What the hell is a squirrel finder? This is the squirrel finder hole. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/Rx330%20Swap/Lunch081.jpg This is how you fill it. (note you use some high temp putty or something this is just wool to show you not what you want to put there) http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/Rx330%20Swap/Lunch084.jpg And this is how it looks from the front being filled. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u280/garrett804/Rx330%20Swap/Lunch085.jpg OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
Catalyst
Ok, so heres a question. If I am going the HID route in the near foreseeable future, and I am taking my headlights apart to black them out, should I then fill in the holes and do the "washer mod" while I have them apart? Or will this make the halogens look funny or weird until then? "This is an adventure."
TSiWRX
If you know you're going to go with a plug-and-play H7 kit in the very foreseeable future, if I were in your shoes, I'd bite the bullet and go ahead and fill the "squirrel finders" while you have the lamp housing apart. . <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
MiniStiGuy
if you are going to open them to black them out then just fill the holes but don't worry about the washer mod unless its something you have time and want to play with. BAC5.2
Do you have to pull the lights apart to fill in the squirrel finder holes? bochinam
Hid, no hid what's the motivation behind filling these holes? I like being able to see signs. Nobody has flashed me yet with the hid kit I'm running. (What I don't like is the goofy factory cut off that gives the illusion that the left headlight is adjusted a foot lower than the right.) BAC5.2
That factory cut-off is there for a reason. In RHD countries, it's flipped. Get rid of that, any you'll start getting flashed a LOT more. Catalyst
what's the motivation behind filling these holes? GLARE (with an HID kit). Just because you don't get flashed doesn't mean you aren't blinding people. I am often blinded and don't flash people because I dont know if its glare, high beams, or just a piss poor factory aiming. "This is an adventure."
bochinam
Glare...fair enough. Piss poor aiming is a much bigger concern and I've already taken care of that. Still don't like the goofy cut off.
MiniStiGuy
the cutoff is designed that way so that you can have the most light in front of you at a distance and side light for your shoulder but not be blinding oncoming traffic. It's annoying when driving down a hill then up another but it's a great system. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro

It's annoying when driving down a hill then up another but it's a great system. Shame we never got factory HID's. Technically, all HIDs are required to have some type of leveling system (typically automatic, but in some cases manual). Any kit or retrofit forefits this, which is a shame. coldradio1
Check these out. I've never seen this kit in action, but every normal kit they produce is amazing quality. This particular kit has adjustable aiming via remote to reduce glare, etc. http://www.xenithxenons.com/product_p/hid-luxkit.htm

coldradio1
Um I'd rather eat my own sh!t than order that POS. If you don't mind sharing why, I'd appreciate it. Not being sarcastic either. I'm not saying that it is the greatest out there, but I've yet to hear a bad review on their standard kit. I know its not a Philips kit or anything but I'm pretty sure they are better than the DDM sh!t i've been seeing. I'm definitely interested in how well the LUX kit holds up over time. MiniStiGuy
they are all Chinese components for the most part but I have met the owners of DDM and currently utilize there 55w ballast and have no issues with any of there products. I don't think they are any better than any other but at least they aren't marking some fake gimmick of "taking away glare" and selling green, purple, pink, orange bulbs etc.. This company to me just seems like those annoying Honda idiots that I always see here everywhere in southern California with there idiotic aim and blinding setup's. This also goes for those fagot BRO's that drive the big ass trucks all lifted up with the kits not only in the headlights and high-beams (which they drive with on) but also the fogs and other lights they have hooked up. It's like a Freaking UFO light escapade coming down the road. Like I said before though its just my own opinion based solely off reading on there site.
