Ridgeracer
So I wanted to try some new ways of getting home instead of sitting in traffic on the Merrit Parkway North so I mapquest a copy of routes to getting around that parking lot. Man, if there is anything that I actually like about CT it has to be the back routes. I think my favorite so far has to be Cross Hwy. Can we say winding roads + Ksports + RSB + ProTuned LGT? Anyone else in the Northeast have a favorite they care to share? "Gimme mines Balboa...Gimme mines".....Clubber Lang - Mr. T

SubLo
Man! Do I love me a good drive between NYC and Monticello going up Route #17 and Route #55. Nice, nice drive. First started doing it as a kid going to Ten Mile River (Aquehonga). If you ever need a weekend or even a day trip, consider that drive, rent canoes, and do a day or two trip down the Delaware. Combined with the drive, it can't be beat. Not too expensive either. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

andrewsalinger
I love going through the backroads from Stamford, to Pound Ridge, NY, then to Danbury, CT. Very very windy. This is a great route indeed, I take this route whenever I go to visit my parents place. Can't be beat especially if nobody is in front of you, hugging the tight corners around the rock cliffs. TRAC3
if you're looking for a good drive, search for CLiffs of Insanity or COI on audiworld.... that's always a great time corner carving... up by Bear Mountain pkwy bear mtn bridge area.... I love going through the backroads from Stamford, to Pound Ridge, NY, then to Danbury, CT. Very very windy. agreed... there are a couple different routes that I take to get up towards ridgefield or DA, and they all involve some nice little roads... the merritt itself can be pretty fun if there are no cops about and no traffic.... Aczwild
Lincoln Pond Rd, between Elisabethtown and Mineville, NY, RTE 125 from East Middlebury to Hancock, VT and the Bethel Mountain Rd. from Rochester to Bethel, VT (if attempting in the winter, I suggest a large set of cahones, nasty winter tires, and 4WD/AWD) JDM'd All to hell Thanks Jimmy @ Hkc-Speed.com! rjundi
Most fun to drive is Hurricane Road in Intervale, NH a video a WRX owner posted >>>> [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6227997873028878658&hl=en]A Sunday Drive on Hurricane Mountain Road[/ame] , you can get air very easily on this road (high school days) Another great one is the kangamangus highway Conway, NH<>Lincoln NH. I grew up in the area and lots of fun with a Rabbit GTI on these roads.
KartRacerBoy
I love going through the backroads from Stamford, to Pound Ridge, NY, then to Danbury, CT. Very very windy. I had many conversations with men in uniform for traveling these very roads in my 1973 Honda Civic hatchback. 1300 lbs, 60 hp, beat suspension. Every turn a challenge. Every cop a few more points on my license. And there was always the benefit of scaring a Mercedes or Rolls Royce with my crappy Civic. Body damage! Be off with you! Sweet roads, sweet cars, sweet teenage women.
Boulderguy
Boulder Canyon, 17 mi, beware of falling rock. Now I can unload all my road stories! In 1980, I went to Colorado Univ in Boulder and was a bike guy. A Honda dealership let me take a test ride on a new Honda CB750F into Boulder canyon (at 19 years old!). The guy said "If you're not back in 45 minutes, I'll be worried. Have fun." It was a death warrant but somehow I came back alive with merely soiled panties. My motorcycle at the time was a 35 hp 1973 Honda CB350. Needless to say, I didn't buy the 750F but I dream of that bike to this day.

KartRacerBoy
What are you, 10???? Hell, ya, it was paved. And motorcycles had CARBs. And Boulder girls were as horny then as they are now. MOVE b4 you have a daughter, son. We college boys loved the high school girls at our parties. And I'm sure we committed a few felonies (but with cooperation). DO NOT HAVE DAUGHTERS IN BOULDER. IMHO. Boulderguy
Was dirt even invented back then? Just playing with ya. I started CU in '89 & remember well enough to consider boarding schools for my daughters, should that ever happen. The place has changed so much since then - I'd love to have seen it in '80 (when I WAS ten).
