2008 2.5i NA here...

because their are few things i can do to my suby :spin: i decided i will go all out on the brakes without spending $$$ =)

has any one ever had any experience with EBC products?

specifically "EBC ULTIMAX SLOTTED ROTOR (USR) BLACKDASH SERIES BRAKE DISCS, SLOTTED, SOLID, BLACK ZINC"

and EBC Redstuff pads?

wheels sounds like i'm running over banshees when i come to a stop so i figured its time to change everything out in the next week or so

also, comparison between EBC Redstuff and Hawk HPS?

anyone have any opinions on a completely better set up?

i would consider my driving style, spirited, even tho it takes a while to get up to speed, i do...

hard stops to stop lights, signs, cornering, and especially when the escort 9500ix screams KA band....

Welcome to the forum. I'm currently running EBC slotted rotors all around with greenstuff pads and I'm very happy. I haven't seen much discussion about them around here, so I know I'm in the minority. FWIW, they've worked well on my Stage II legacy. I've put close to 20k on them so far. I think the pads will need changed in the next 5-10k bc i have a minor noise in the front wheel well that I attribute to pad wear. I tend to run them hard.

My greens also create very little dust. I've traveled about 1500 in the last few weeks for work and although my wheels are dirty, they still look great. The dust always comes off super easy and the wheels look like new. i believe the Hawks can dust up pretty good.

Double check with EBC about the Red Stuff. If those are more geared toward track use or high HP applications you probably don't need them even if you are looking for a nice break kit. I recommend the Greenstuff for your 2.5i. Here's a good link: http://www.ebcbrakes.com/selector.shtml

I would check with KNS Brakes as well. Although they don't stock EBC, they can probably point you to another good set of pads and you can compare your options.

Good luck!

I'm running GreenStuff pads with OE rotors on my Toyota Highlander right now. The pads will dust like mad in the first 1000 or so kms, then it settles down and makes little to no dust. I'm at around 40,000kms right now. My rotors are warped, but I think that was because I overheated them going from 160km/h to 0 and staying at 0. Also that is 40,000kms of hard driving - as in almost 100% city driving. A lot more work on the brakes than highway.

They are ok when cold, but really shines once you warm them up. Once I do a few hard stops and maintain brake temperature, they stop really well.

I am also surprised at the lack in interest in EBC brakes considering the noted inconsistency that the Hawk pads are. It seems like EBC brakes are of a pretty good quality imo.

from what i was reading,EBC a few years ago changed their formulation on their pads. Their first formulation of their street pad had reports of the pads crumbling during braking which presents some problems but for the reviews i have seen for the new updated formula they are mostly positive.

i think the big issue is like, if you eat something that makes you sick you probably wont eat it again...

if you have a bad experience with a product, you wont use it again and if you make it known people will listen to you and stay away

i get rear discs and all pads tonight via ups, front came tuesday, i will be posting pictures when i get them all

STAY AWAY FROM EBC ROTORS FOR THE FRONT ON 2008 ish Legacys

putting on the rotors today and notices they were slightly smaller then the OEM that were on it, tightened everything up and the brake pad over hung the edge of the rotor by .5 inches EBC rotors are 10.8 inches, Subaru calls for 11.5

will be contacting EBC later today to clear this mess, and miss cataloging up.

Rear rotors fit fine!

ahh the headaches :spin:

Funny you say that, during my install I recieved incorrect rear pads. but this was a vendor error, not EBC'S. Are you sure you were shipped the right product?

yes, my mechanic and I check the part number on other various websites selling same product, EBC's website, and and he called EBC directly to verify the part for my legacy. All said i had the correct parts for front rotors.

the women i talked to at autopart warehouse claimed it didn't fit because it was a performance part,

i'm sorry but if you want to increase braking performance, why would you decrease rotor diameter... the rear rotors were "performance parts" and fit perfectly...

Just a heads up. I just checked on the EBC website and they list 10.8 and 10.9 for all non turbo Legacy's. Whereas turbo Legacy's are listed 12.5 front and 11.4 rears. I'm not sure why it may be different. Perhaps its bcause EBC is England based and maybe they have different sized brakes.

Have you tried putting the brakes on at all? Does it not work at all?

Oh and that woman you talked to sounds retarded lol.....

Update: Try ordering the Outback rotors. They are 11.6/10.8. Since the two cars are the same, it should fit.

omg you are right!

man, i wish i thought of this before I ran my new pads on my old rotors :spin:

but then again, its only been 300 miles....

I don't see a problem as both are wearing items, they'll wear into each other eventually anyways. As long as there isn't any uneven wear then I'd say we are good to go, if you are worried just lightly sand the pads a bit and remove any residue or dust or anything.
