CSTMIZR
Hey All. I'm sure this walkthrough has already been done but I thought I'd try my hand at it. We had a little "project party" and this happened to be one of them. They're inexpensive, and relatively easy to do, additional DIY front bumper mesh grills and an intercooler sheild. You can purchase the mesh at Home Depot in the lumber section (or next aisle over) for about $8 and that could do three cars with leftover for three matching DIY front grills. WARNING: This stuff is SHARP and will cut you easily, wear gloves Tools: Work Gloves Tin Snips (or the like, but sharp though, call a friend if you don't have anything well suited) Power Drill Skewdriver (right angle bit adaptor) Drill Bit (zip tie width) Supplies: Mesh Zip-ties ($1) Spray Primer ($3) Spray Paint ($3-$10, regular to hi-temp) Painters Tape ($2) Newspaper (free?) (2x)- 3/4" self tapping srews (large head) Here are links to the other projects/walkthroughs of the weekend: DIY Open Induction: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61782 Full on detail: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61824 Sap Removal: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61793 Miracle Whip Audio System: Coming soon. http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x215/CSTMIZR/MWGrills1.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x215/CSTMIZR/MWGrills2.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x215/CSTMIZR/MWGrills3.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x215/CSTMIZR/MWGrills4-1.jpg

SSN666
If you are lazy like me you might want to try this. I went to Lowe's and got some of those 'filters' that are used in oven range hoods. One was just the right size for the intercooler opening with a minor trim to round off the two corners at the 'top'. I used some 'metal sealing compound' to form the rounded area that was trimmed. Just be sure to get the kind that are only the aluminum grill and not the kind that have have a filter material inside or air flow will be stopped. It lay down just on top of the cover and is held in place by high temp velcro. For the lower opening I got another size that fit 'top to bottom'. I needed three of these to span side to side, but unless you are a fanatic and get down and look, you can't see the seam where the sections meet. Edit: Oh yes, I also needed to cut a slot in the mesh so that the deflector coming down from the hood could pass thru it. Used basic rubber tubing to create a rim around the slot. jswain101
If I use like a PlastiDip kinda thing on this mesh, will it get damaged by heat or anything? Or should I just use paint?

EDIT: http://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=11213 Something similar to that just with our grill... Double Edit: So I started the mesh behind the stock grill tonight... Will post more as I progress.
