Down pipe & up pipe problems

Recommended Posts

I recently installed a down pipe, up pipe & exhaust mufflers on my car. I did the COBB AP flash to stage 2 +SF intake.

The CEL light is on and the Cruise light blinks. I read on another thread to disconnect the battery which I already did after everything. I even hooked up the reader to the ECU and it said a sensor is not working correctly. Is it just 100 miles? Can anybody confirm this? Otherwise after 100 miles I will have to go find help.

The other question is; Does anybody know of a heat shield to install on to an aftermarket down pipe? Or do you just have to modify some brackets out of metal for it to work?

Any information would help. Thank you.

First, your AP has a code reader. This should tell you which sensor is broken. The next step is to make sure it is reconnected correctly. Probably the get or O2 sensor.

It could be the missing egt probe but I thought the stage 2 flash took care of that.

you may need to go to Radio Shack and get a 2.2k ohm resistor. they are 5 for $1.25. Stick one in the connector on the fender well.

So what intake sensor would it be? Any help is appreciated? I would like to know is it ECU just adjusting to the new pipes?

Any ideas on a heat shield or none? Or build brackets to hold it?

I have my heatshield trimmed for fitment with an aftermarket downpipe. I'll sell it to you for $10 + shipping :)

What code are you getting? (number ). I take sensor is probably the MAF located by the air filter box. Did you remember to plug it in before attempting to restart the car? Or is it still disconnected?

My oem heat shield fit fine with my invidia up/dp. Why can't you use the oem heat shield on the turbo ?

I just wrapped my up/dp with DEI heat wrap when I had the engine out.

Really? I had the clip the top half some to fit it around the bellmouth on the DP. The lower half lost some important mounting points and would have flapped around so much I left it off.

Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.

To be honest I didn't do the install the first time. But I have had the heat shield off a number of times and had to cut it for the vf52, but I haven't noticed any other cutting done to it. I also haven't looked that hard.

I'll have it off and the near future to put the gold heat shield tape in it. I'll take a closer look then.

I do only use two bolts to hold it on, because there is a piece missing or rusted off. I think one of the bolts is broken in the inside hole if I recall.

IIRC, I had that code after an engine swap. You need the TGV position sensor (the thing that looks like a throttle position sensor). Someone on here who deleted their TGVs would probably have it for sale. I have an extra from when I bought all the TGV stuff from someone, but I'm keeping it as a spare for myself, sorry.

Check none torts first. Then you can remove and clean em. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace em.

What is the part number for the TGV sensor? The dealer's by me want to sell the whole thing not only the sensor.

Why are you buying this part new from the dealer when it's readily available used in good condition on the internet for pennies on the dollar?
