So it is quite possible that one reading said -7 while your car only read 0, I know mine is consistently 2 degrees higher than any bank thermometer I drive by. If it's a Spec. B, it's because the car won't let the temperature around you dip below zero. Personally, I think Subaru should've picked a higher number.
