AKLGT
OK, i managed to get my hands on a CBE. they accidentally sent the shop 2 left mufflers instead of one left and one right. Is is possible to take one of the mufflers to a muffler shop and have it rewelded to fit a right?? i'm hoping it will and won't cost too much as if i can get it to work, i can keep it. This is about the only way i'll ever be able to get a CBE... or maybe it's a TBE as it's one huge pipe..... to the mufflers. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!! AKLGT
here are some pics of the exhaust parts (some on the wall) and one muffler. It looks like the hangers will have to be removed and rewelded and the tip also rewelded to match or it'd be upside down. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/SPT%20Exhaust/CIMG0235.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/SPT%20Exhaust/CIMG0237.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/SPT%20Exhaust/CIMG0238.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/trdvibe/SPT%20Exhaust/CIMG0239.jpg Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!! rc0032
Catbacks are MT/AT interchangeable You are correct though, re-weld the hangers and flit the tip.
BoxerGT2.5
Yes, cut the hangers off, grind off the excess, reweld the hangers (Basically take the left rear and weld it to the right front, right rear to the left front).Hang the muffler in place with the Y-pipe installed, cut the 2.25in pipe about 3/4 to 1 inch before the can, cut 1inch infront of the flange (it will be a different orientation), line everything up, tac it together, pull it off the car and finish welding. MarcusDubya77
Just have them send you a right for left..Looks like my exhaust..Infamous EBay..mine is the XO2, and yes it will fit 5eat :woowoo:check out the Diamond Gray Metallic Monster!!! AKLGT
they won't send me just a right muffler. then it defeats the purpose of them "giving" me the CBE. i'll take it to a shop and see how much they charge. but I think you can do exactly what boxer said.... from looking at it, seems that's what you need to do. AKLGT
lol. well i won't be using the uppipe now. LOL go figure. i found a shop that will do ss welds as the muffler shops in town will not. will cost me $100 to get the hangers and tips swapped. the tip won't be as pretty as the original one, it'll have a weld on the lower end, but won't be ugly he promises, it just won't be super shiny either. the car sits 2.5" above the ground practically, so i doubt people will be crawling on the ground to see it. AKLGT
that up looks better and nicer than mine. i'll not be using the one i have because the techs at the subie dealer told me NO! and yes, that is me. which brings up a totally off topic question that is bugging both my husband and i, WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE PICS OF CHICKS IN YOUR AVATARS?? SUBBROS
You sure you cant get a new right can? My only concern is that the offsets on the tip and inlet wont line up right. The inlet offset can be custom fabbed, but when you flip that muffler to fit the right side, it looks like that that tip will not line up with your other muffler tip. Again, you may be able to adjust that with the hangers and changing how it hangs, but I dont think it will look good. Because basically the cans are going to be sitting at different levels in order to get the tips level. Of course Im just eyeballing this, and cannot verify that the tip outlets are in the same position whether it is flipped or not. Just something for you to consider. AKLGT
i'll take out a measuring tape and see. but from staring at it at the welding shop with the welder, we agreed it would be the same on both sides. Oh, and I agree. Dont understand the fantasy women avatars. It would be funny to see everyones actual pic. Maybe it contributes to lgt.com's popularity as it gives people something to look at. Other forums dont have the avatars. Maybe we are all old and ugly. not. Could be a good OT thread.

PhilT
Glad they were able to fit, but it looks like your left tip hangs a bit lower than your right one. You should be able to correct that by bending the hangers a little. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
AKLGT
well, we tried to bend them, but the way the hanger sits, it just wasn't wanting to do it. it's so damn close, that we said F it and left it. if it bugs me too much, then we'll get the car back up on the lift, heat up the hanger a little and then pound on it.
