fahr_side
Seems quite new... http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=KCA409 I watching these for a while, the KCA335 for the GC/GD chassis. I waited I think two years for these to become available for my GH8, but then WL had some problems with the 335 and suspended sales for a while. In the meantime I picked up some GRB hardened top mounts. Now these are available. With the JDM GRF springs I use I'm just a little lower than stock and can only get a maximum of -1.0* camber. I never have liked the aftermarket camber bolt solutions out there. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. .Catalyst.
In for any feedback as well. I just saw these two days ago when looking up another WL part on their website. I like the additional camber and caster adjustments, and have been considering going with Koni's and new tophats to replace my tired Bilsteins and spec.B tophats. fahr_side
I've had them for a couple years now. No problems. You mean the KCA335 on an Impreza or Forester? This Legacy-fitment part is quite new. jamal
Yes, KCA335 on my Legacy. They've made some changes to it- the stiffness of the rubber, how it's bonded, and higher quality bearings, so the new one for the 05+ Legacy and 08+ Impreza carry all that stuff over and should not have any problems. The part number for these is KCA409 btw, and none of the distributors I use even have any yet.
sjxbrd
Just ordered a set of these from Mike. I will install them and get the car aligned around mid April.
PirateDuck
I also just ordered a pair from Mike. I'm installing Konis with Rallitek springs in my wagon this month. I'll post up a review once everything is settled and aligned.

.Catalyst.
These will work with the inverted Bilsteins? That would surprise me. I thought these were for the KYB style front struts. Dbl_D718
How do these compare to spec.B top hats, performance-wise? The spec.B bearing would be larger, yes? How must difference does that make? I used spec.B top hats when I installed my Konis, but I'm considering switching to these to eliminate the ride height increase from the extra washer. Would I be spending money on a downgrade? These are a bit stiffer than the SpecB units and also give you more camber so that's a good thing if your car is lowered or you do performance/track driving. -Mike Paisan AZP's First Private Track Event, June 19 at NJMP Thunderbolt $315 including Classroom and Mentor! http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. scoobyscoodle
I wonder how much more comfortable these would be than my GTworx camber plates? Meh. I really like the additional caster the GTworx plates provide and these look to add around the same amount, and a little more camber too.

They will be significantly more comfortable since they aren't a solid piece of metal like the camber plates are. fahr_side
I just want to mention at this point that adding caster has the following effects: Reduce bump steer Increase feedback felt through steering wheel Increase the amount of force required to move the road wheels out from center position Increase input force at the steering wheel to do same Those last two items point to an increase in the forced required from the steering rack and in turn, the PS pump. This can result in an increase in fluid temperature and cars that are driven hard or in high ambient temps may experience fluid overheating and even PS pump or even rack failure. A cooler is highly recommended to combat this. Don't say you weren't warned. My 05 CTS-V was notorious for blowing PS pumps on track even with an aftermarket cooler. Once I switched the fluid to the RL PS Fluid it was great on track. -Mike Paisan AZP's First Private Track Event, June 19 at NJMP Thunderbolt $315 including Classroom and Mentor! http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. Underdog
Yeah, that is an excellent point. The stock PS cooler is pretty small. The Crimson Dynamo

scoobyscoodle
You know, I never even thought about the additional caster causing increased PS fluid temps. Switching to the Redline fluid would be a good idea. I've never had any issues yet, but I don't drive the car hard when the ambient temps rise. I've got the positive caster LCA bushings and positive caster camber plates too.
fahr_side
I fitted offset lower bushings last summer and my PS pump started crying very soon thereafter. I went to the GrpN items with no offset, but while it made things better it wasn't a fix. I then had Subaru warranty the pump and everything is now fine. alain59
I have a question regarding these KCA409 top hats : are they only usable with high caster and significant negatif camber, or is it also possible to use them with standard LGT alignment settings ? Here is the project : I am lowering my outback with bilstein HD's (B6), I am also planing to replace LCA bushings with WL W0506 & W53353, And I am also considering options for stiff but not harsh replacement tophats. However I am not running a super low car with track alignment, this is still my daliy driver.
fahr_side
No, they are offset. While you might be able to adjust to stock camber settings, you will have to accept the extra caster. If you just want the extra stiffness, get the GRB STi mounts. alain59
thanks for your reply so that's it :-0°30' camber and +0°75 caster offset. improved cornering and steering response, did I get it ? Well that car is a DD, but mostly a B road one. Therefore I guess I will be happy with this I understand more caster will make steering feel heavier in the city, however I do not drive much in town with this car... I might now be looking for a quicker steering rack (those that came with euro 3.0R specB's)
