Here is the Autoweek Image thanks an old XP based laptop. The only similar image I could find is of the base Impreza.

Sorry I don't have image editing software on the XP machine so no side by side.

All hatchbacks look somewhat the same. They are all following the same general shape, thats what makes them hatchbacks. I would still take the new STI over any of the other. Can I get a Amen?

Car looks are a product of fashion among the designers. There are only a few designer houses around that produces the look of cars and they are watching each other like predators over a good piece of meat.

I wouldn't be surprised if Subaru outsources car design to an external company, but of course - nobody will admit it.

There's only so many design decisions an auto maker can make to have their car stand out from the crowd without alienating a large part of their potential buyers. Subtle changes are usually made towards a certain design trend, and other auto makers follow suit if that trend appears to have a place in the market.

The reason a lot of cars have similar features is because these features are what buyers are expecting to see. If people weren't buying hatches that all look similar to the Focus, then that design would be dropped. See the Pontiac Aztek for an example.

You may very well be right the acura MDX from behind is smiliar to the Tribeca while the new forester bears a likeness to the 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander.

If it weren't so damn expensive!!! I'll take my LGT Wagon with Stage 2 and $15K in my pocket over the 08 STI!
