You won't envy the screaming and door slaming my wife will be doing when she finds the bill! I almost purchased a salvage transmission instead but the cheapest I found was $1600 + s/h from Oregon, and I figured it would also break eventually. So this seamed like the best route to go, but I think I will be married to this car now and driving it for the next ten years.

You don't say... I work in Littleton, probably less than 10 minutes from you. I'd say we should grab lunch, but I only get 30 min here (paid, so I'm not complaining ). Maybe sometime after work though... anything new on the ride?
I put on my Perrin catback exhaust a few weeks ago... little bit on the loud side, but I'm definitely loving it!

Not much new on my car since I swapped the front woofers from Boston Acoustics to Image Dynamics.
Would love to hear the Perrin catback though. I don't get "30 minutes" for lunch, I'm salaried, so no work gets done between 12 and 1 usually :P
Don't usually do much after work.

Really? There was one on ebay recently for $800. But it was OBXT so the front final drive would need to be swapped... that's not what you broke is it?

The only auto transmissions I was able to find on ebay were for the 2.5i.

For some reason, mine when warmed up sounds a bit more like a faint disel truck. and only when in gear (guess lower revs).
Shifting fine and not slipping. I need to get the fluid changes which happened like 20K miles ago and since then, one AutoX a month (only since Jan)

ya know that reminds me..
for the last several days I've noticed a sickly sounding noise, like something is stuck in a fan blade, when I'm in 3rd through 5th gear. the pitch and intensity is more based on how hard I'm pushing the car rather than RPMs or speed. If I let off the gas it completely stops, but resumes the second I go back on the gas.
i was going to wait for it to get louder but.. this couldn't have anything do with the transmission could it? I honestly hadn't thought of that. I haven't had it serviced.. ever. and its at 70k miles.

I will go ahead and add my car and blame you guys for my empty wallet. I grabbed an Accessport and flashed stage 1 and now two months later I have an appointment at TopSpeed for a downpipe and protune
