godwhomismike
Subaru’s Liberty Blitzen the Opposition Subaru today unveiled the stunning limited edition Liberty Blitzen at Melbourne International Motor Show. It uses striking styling cues from the Japanese domestic market Legacy Blitzen, which until now has never been available in Australia. Blitzen (the German word for lightning) combines the potent ability of the existing Liberty 3.0R spec.B with a long list of body and interior changes to produce a car with unique personality. Available in bright red or obsidian black, it includes a new aerodynamic package including front grille, front and rear bumpers, side sills, roof spoiler on the wagon and 18-inch alloy wheels - underpinned by the safety of Subaru’s famed All-Wheel Drive. Just 200 of these superb touring cars are available, in both automatic and manual transmission variants, sedan and wagon. Liberty Blitzen’s sporty character is highlighted by wider bumpers, flared sills and the honeycomb grille. The wheel pattern is also unique to the model. The 3.0 litre horizontally opposed boxer engine is the same as that which powered the Liberty 3.0R to its recent win in the combined national motoring organization awards, as Australia’s Best Luxury Car under $57,000. Liberty Blitzen is expected to be available in June 2006, for a strictly limited period. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date. It shares the same independent ANCAP five-star crashworthiness rating for occupant safety as all other Liberty variants. Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “For some years Subaru fans in Australia have followed the various Blitzen versions available in Japan. “We’re delighted to reward their interest with this limited edition, prepared especially for the Australian market. Once again it demonstrates the high regard that Fuji Heavy Industries has for our Australian customers, tailoring a car especially for our domestic needs. “It’s got tremendous road presence and combined with the highly acclaimed chassis set-up and engine of the Liberty 3.0R spec.B, we think there will be considerable interest.” Standard features include: ABS Brakes with EBD Adjustable steering column Airbags – dual front side and curtain Air-conditioning - climate control All-Wheel Drive Bilstein sports suspension Cruise control DataDot security system Eight-way power driver and passenger seats Electronic throttle control system Leather steering wheel, gear shift & park brake McIntosh premium audio system with 13 speakers – six stack in-dash CD player Momo sports steering wheel Power steering, mirrors and windows Sportshift on automatic Pics: http://i2.tinypic.com/rib4ad.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/rib4g3.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/rib5sk.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/rib5vr.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/rib61u.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/rib67a.jpg I love that body style it's got

Zsbaug24
I wish we got it here in the states. I loved the old blitzen and like this one just as much. I kinda wish it was the 2.5L Turbo and not the 3.0R, but hey its so pretty I don't think I'd mind it that much.
ShockerGT
The seats look awesome and the front bumper too. I dont know about the rear bumper though.
johnnydad
Its basically a 3.0R-B with a body kit and some trim changes. From what we can tell there are no mechanical alterations. The likely price premium would discourage me. Besides which I don't like the rear much.

dr. pepper
the front end is too simple, it looks too high up, it should be a more aggressive lip spoiler type design, the wheels are way too busy for the car, and the rear bumper is weird with the contuation of the trunk line. interior though is top notch:icon_bigg

RuskiTrombone
the front of the first one looks way too much like an audi, i like it. the wheels are ugly as hell though. i don't like anything on the second one, the body kit is ugly, the wheels are uglier, the spoiler is horrible and those fart cans are just that. IwannaSportSedan
this has gotten far off the blitzen... I have always liked the blitzen, since I heard about the 05, and looked back at the previous model. The interesting thing is that the AUS Blitzen is a 3.0R Spec B car with a body change and paint color, and some interior trim... The JDM Blitzen is the same specification, EXCEPT the 2.0GT Twin Scroll drivetrain, making it a 2.0GT Spec B under the skin. I believe the older model Blitzens were B4 RSK specification, all with body and interior customization. I like the new wheels compared to the 05 Blitzen wheels. I am not the biggest fan of the rear bumper, I think the standard bumper is good. but the front bumper is nice, if a tad audi-ish. I would change the front flush mount grille for an inset mesh grille, like a zero-sports, or K2 Spec B-size grille. But I love the color. Solid red does suit the lines of the car very well. Regardless of the trim, I think that should be an offered color in more markets. It is very agressive and noticeable, without being completely ostentatious, like copper orange or bright yellow would be. There are many sport sedans that are painted brighter red than Garnet Red Pearl, and I think the Legacy GT/Spec B/STI/Whatever should be, even in the US. I just wish that SOA would get a little bolder with the US market Legacy and emulate or extend the models that the rest of the world gets to this market. We would BUY them! I know I would... I like the spec B, and it would be a no brainer for me to get one, if it is worth the markup (06 is worth the price that they are getting now, if not full MSRP, 07 looks to have even more to differentiate from the LGT...) And if it were offered in MORE THAN ONE COLOR (Do you hear that, SOA?) Blitzen is available in Red, gray and black, STI is available in Silver, gray and black in Austrailia, WR Blue, Regal Blue and Gray in Japan, and the Spec Bs are available in all the LGT colors, as well as the WR Blue WR-limited commemorative edition (the only logical use of a single color model, and a nice color to boot.) SOA's Spec B is the only one so far limited to titanium silver ONLY. Hopefully that changes for 07.
