08:Replaced my DRL/High with Yellow Halogen Bulbs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Before anything else, this applies to the 08-09 Legacy, and probably the 2010 and newer too that have the DRL at low voltage and separate bulbs for the low beam.

Also:

1)I searched and didnt see a similar thread

2)I know I get egg splatter during the day when my car is off (but plan to put tint film on my headlights in a few weeks so it will solve that)

3)Yes, my high beams are yellow and they are actually really bright!

4)Yes, while I am driving, my DRL are always on. No, I am not afraid of it burning out because they are stock wattage (and i will check on them ever few weeks to make sure they are holding up and not ready to blow out or explode)

SO! Hey everyone, I have been looking for an alternative for my DRLs and with LEDS being too dim and I dont even know if they will work for the high beams and anything short of putting an hid kit in the high beam side, I went with the Nokya 2500k Hyper Yellow Bulbs (9005). I went with these because I have had good experiences with the Nokya Yellow. I have tried many bulbs in the past with my 2.5RS fogs. I tried Hella Yellow (which were really bright but white when you looked at them, they only illuminated the road yellow. Which some of you guys may like but I wanted them to look like the yellow capsules that they have in the lexus' and stuff when you look head on at them). I have also tried PIAA's and Mtec yellow bulbs. And I liked the Nokya's the best between all of them until I went with 3000k fog lights. But I cant put HIDS in my Legacy so I went with the Yellow Halogens I was most happy with, the Nokyas.

During the day, you can see egg splatter and they are not that bright when lit. You can hardly tell the difference when it is sunny. I dont know how it looks like to oncoming traffic, if the yellow is apparent or not, but when i drive up to buildings, I notice the reflection on the glass and the reflection on other cars in front of me, it lets off a yellow. In the night time, they are dimmer and yellower, as you would expect. But I was actually surprised at how bright the high beams were!

Overall, I am happy, you can see the light differentiate in the housing more. The normal halogens "glowed" a little more in the housing during the daytime.

DRL disable and 9011 HIR bulbs, independent fog light mod with Nokya 2500k bulbs in the fogs, and Morimoto Elite 4300K HID kit in the stock projectors is a stunningly effective setup.

I am guessing you have this set up? I will agree that you have a nice set up there. Happy with the Nokya 2500k color?

I dont think I mind the DRL too much. Especially with the highs on, they almost look like my 3000k hid bulbs and i like how they contrast with the hids.

I have ddm 55W 5000k hid, 3000k hid fogs and the nokya hyper yellows for DRL. I am pretty happy with my set up now too

I like it, and it looks great! I too went with a yellow bulb a while back, Eurolites. The yellow really stood out, and coming from a 2nd gen integra with yellow one piece fog lights, I'm a bit partial to the look.

I'm experimenting with LED's right now, but I don't like them as much as the Eurolite setup, so I'll probably be going back to them soon.

Your yellows seems very more yellow than the nokyas

The yellow resembles more like my Hoen bulbs in my fogs. the nokya's are brighter but not as yellow

I would say the Hoens are like a 2500k and the nokya's are like a 3000k

Yeah i have seen pictures of LEDs and they look pretty dull. also, what about the high beams?

I don't have a pic of the high beam, but they were fairly bright and would easily cast a yellow light on everything. After I installed some HID's though, the yellow light isn't as noticeable with the high beams on.
