If i'm understanding you correctly, that will not work. The stock climate controls AND radio share the same circuit board and in order to cut and separate the board, you need to pay close attention to schematics and have the appropriate skills to do so. Highline Automotive did this back in the day and charged LOTS of $$$ for the completed kit.

Why isn't there just a replacement piece for that and that way you can retain your stock dual climate controls?
Or buy this one, cut it right above the knobs.
