I installed the timing belt kit this past December. The car was at 105k and the belt looked good.(I bought it at 69k) Not knowing if everything had been replaced, I decided to install the Gates kit. Good thing I did. The belt, tensioner and water pump appear to have been good but the other rollers were clearly worn and a little noisy.
All the rollers/pulleys in the gates kit were made in Japan. I believe NTK was stamped on most of them. The belt that was on the car was black on the outside but the inner teeth looked dark brown. The Gates kit I installed came with the blue belt. The teeth were black. I put a couple thousand miles on it so far and things are fine for now.

I remember reading some time back about someone who's Gates belt(blue one) failed due to a water pump bolt that came loose. They said they hadn't torqued the bolts. I'm betting that they probably got it down finger tight and forgot to tighten it with a ratchet. There's 2 screws on the water pump that are hidden.
