Something to keep in mind since you're up in the NE. The heat from Halogen or Hids helps keep ice from forming on the headlights.
When you have one of those freezing rains, the LEDs won't keep the ice off the headlight and I'd wonder how quickly the light output would be effected and at the time you need the light the most.
