I picked up some mounts from ProClip USA and took out their dock cable and replaced it with a Belkin F8V7058-APL that allows for charging and audio input to the Clean Sweep with very good sound. When it's working.

If I come up with any permanent fixes, I'll post.
If you're having those kinds of problems, we would be happy to replace it under warranty. The failures you describe are not common.
