I second what these guys say... I was just doing donuts the other day, and messed around with trying to do them with T/C on... Car cut power and straightened me out very quickly. Had to turn it off to get any real sliding in... So either you weren't actually sliding, or your T/C was already off, or you need to get it checked out. It's very invasive, when it's on... You'd definitely notice it...
