I'm basing what little experience I have on this from jeeps. There are shift mods to lock the torque converter in I believe any gear. If you locked it at idle it would obviously stall the motor as if you were letting a clutch out.
yep my sunbird would stall instantly.
however the tcc was not vailiable when in manual 1st gear. this is a limp home thing incase the soloinoid got stuck on.

my question is the 05-07 valve bodys would have the tcc not hydraulically availiable while in first or second gear through mechanical means.
Now that's thinking out of the boxer!
