I have come to the conclusion that most CVT hate is derived from the facts that CVTs are not enthusiast oriented and they are unaccustomed to their behavior. A lot of enthusiats hate automatics and CVTs get it even worse since they are generally used in applications of low horsepower and high mileage. That's a negative association for most enthusiast.
Most people that drive a decent CVT get used non shifting behavior and the noise of the engine RPMs staying high. Most of us have it ingrained in our heads since the time we were in car seats that a car shifts gears.
