Being close to Georgia, I would think you have heard the term "yall" before.

Put some fresh gas in the tank if none is in it. The idea of sucking up sediment on the bottom of the tank is more of a myth then anything.

A fuel pump can still "work" but not let the engine run if its not putting out enough fuel pressure. Sounds like you might need to get your hands on a fuel pressure gauge to fully check things.
