its the shift interlock solenoid and the noise means its working so SOA does not see it as a problem. someone actually traded in their outback because of this, but problem came back on the newer one. im just so annoyed hearing this noise when my radio is at a low volume. subaruoutback.org is not very helpful sometimes, im just wondering if anything can be done. i'm sure some legacy owners have this problem.
