The problem with comparing them to a brand new BMW is the BMW sport package suspensions do a better job of being both pretty compliant/cushy, and handling, a lot of which could be attributed to the famous near 50/50 bmw weight distribution and adaptive suspension technologies.
Dad has an '08 528i with the sport package which I've had the opportunity to thrash in the canyons and it handles pretty damn well. While my Bilstein setup would have beat it on the track, it was definitely stiffer than the BMW. The BMW sport suspensions also have dynamic damper control (adaptive damping basically). If I could chose one suspension over the other, it would be the BMW for all around driving, but that comes with a $50,000 car, which the Subaru is not and will never be.
So don't excpect the Bilsteins to replicate that ride exactly. At the end of the day, they're still going on a nose-heavy Subaru Legacy, and they are set to one specific damping/rebound level.
