I gave my used VF46 (81k miles) to a friend to put on his miata. He said the shaft play wasn't bad at all. But upon closer inspection we found a decent sized crack that spanned from the edge of the WG port to the exhaust port on the DP side. The crack was also visible looking in from the UP area. He designs turbocharged diesels for a living and said that type of cracking is common when you push a turbo too hard. However, he said that they typically seal up at high temperatures and he still planned on using it.
