I think rain-x, rain-x-type washer fluid, and/or wax/siliconing your windshield (the outside....) should be a legal requirement. The effect on surface tension and the resultant improvement in visibility (esp at night) ovviates the poor visibility through an untreated windshield with wipers at top speed. It is a valid safety concern.

Or, I can just blow by the people driving 45 in a 65 since the water just beads up and blows off my windshield...
