It did look like fun. I knew a guy in Charlottesville, VA who took his pickemup truck mudding in the red clay, but was too drunk and lazy to hose it off afterwards. The red clay hardened to cement hardness over the next day in 95 degree heat. It was so hard the mud on his engine (mostly on the belts) prevented it from turning over when he had to go to work. Since it wasn't my car, it was funny as hell.
