I don't know what the conditions are like where you're at, but I went with studless ice and snow here in Chicago where the roads are plowed most of the time. My thinking is that I want tires that will get me through the worst conditions if I get caught out in a storm. You'll give up some dry performance, but I drive conservatively once the winter tires go on anyway.
