After reading some more, it seems to indicate that the high bypass setting is related to more flow resistance by the Subaru filter itself. I cannot explain any other way why the PureOne did a better job filtering the oil than the old black OEM filters did, even in the dead of Nebraska winters. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, therefore I am going to listen to the UOAs and stick with PureOne.
