Since I ordered car in July '04 have only seen TWO LGTs on the road around Detroit, and the 2nd was just last week at the Dream Cruise so I need to cast a wider net!!
Anyway, these two events are put on by other car groups that I belong to (well, I set up the drag day) and are open to all cars. They were primarily SHO Club events for years then more guys are into other vehicles. An eclectic group of SHOs, BMWs, a Lightning truck, Hemi Charger, and others.
Anyway, the Gingerman event is Thursday October 27th, and the Lapeer Dragway day is Saturday October 29th. We schedule them that way because we have out-of-state folks coming in.
Here is info from one of the forums:
The Taurus Car Club of America is hosting a track day on Thursday, October 27th as an "add-on" event to the semi-annual Lapeer Dragway meet (on Sat. Oct 29th).

I am one of the instructors for the Gingerman event (and the lone Subaru!). Gingerman is a great track, and especially good for novices, with wide-open runoff areas. We have the track for the full day (7-5), and this is a great price for a full track day. The $135 is for 20 cars. If we can get 30 cars, the price drops to under $100. Lotsa track time!!
5th Annual Lapeer Fall Meet at Lapeer Dragway
Info from one of my posts to other forums:
Well, we are doing it again this Fall! The date is Saturday October 29th at Lapeer Dragway:
Saturdays are Test-N-Tune, and for $25 you can get a LOT of runs in. Please note that a helmet is required for all cars running. Any helmet will do, and they also rent helmets at the track for $5.
It will be our "usual" routine of a gathering at Big Buck (in Auburn Hills) on Friday night, the track on Saturday, then dinner on Saturday after the track. We will plan on dinner at the Wooden Eagle on Lapeer in Lake Orion (where we had dinner at the May Lapeer outing).
If anyone needs hotel info, email me, but there are a lot of hotels near Big Buck in Auburn Hills on Opdyke, like Motel 6, Holiday Inn Express, Marriott Courtyard (walking distance to Big Buck).
I set up this drag event in May and October. I ran my 13.90 in warm, humid weather in May, and I'm hoping for a few more tenths off in cooler, drier October weather.
If there is any interest in either event, or you need more info, contact me.
