Yeah, their ice test is in a skating rink at 10mph. I subscribe and emailed them about their methodology. They don't post the raw data, and their recommendations use data not shown in the tests.
CR did test "Ultra Performance" tires in November 2003. The ranking was Goodyear F1 GS D3, Toyo Proxes T1-S, Continental ContiSportContact 2,Dunlop SP Sport 9000,Pirelli PZERO NERO,Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position.
Tire rack does a more realistic job, posts the raw data - but doesn't include Nokian, since they're not sold mail-order. There is one passenger all-season with the severe service snow (mountain/snowflake) rating: the Nokian WR. If anyone else selling an all-season could pass it, they would.
