The regular Redline 75w90 has the friction...

The regular Redline 75w90 has the friction modifiers needed for LSD's already in it where the 75w90ns does not. So with the 75w90, no additional additives are needed for the rear diff.

When I say they sound better I'm not talking about being quieter. I know modern diesel engines are much quieter and don't smell as strong as they used to. Personally, I prefer a nice sounding...

Maybe not, but it is possible because he bought the car with a blown turbo. Probably hasn't had a chance to drive it a whole lot yet lol.

I just don't see how a problem with the fuel pump would...

Bad fuel injectors are a pretty common cause for rough idling and/or misfires. Had that problem with mine, they're pretty easy to replace though.

Have you ever driven a car with 400 whp? That's a lot more power than you might think and you may be perfectly satisfied with a lot less. Your stock tranny probably won't hold up very well to that...
