Try some lubrication on the door latch mechanism. Napa sell a CRC aerosol lithium grease spray that works wonders. Any contact in the latch area can "travel" up the B pillar.

Also is there any bubbling in the overflow tank - check after a "hot" run. This may be indicative of a possible head-gasket issue ( I know from bitter experience!)

You can buy a 'block tester' from NAPA to check. After running the car for a while ( and seeing the bubbles)...
