Iwould try panel filter from sard(japanese stuff), I would definitely stay away from oil type filters, I tried one on my old CF4 accord, the sensor just went crazy.

My 4 AT 2.5i wagon has 2000 miles on the clock and gets approx.28mpg(4.5 litre = 1 gallon, 30%city and 70%highway), good enough for a big car like this.
