  1. Thanks. I'll check for the dome for power and try new diodes. At this point of ownership, I'm not thrilled about taking out the BIU and doctoring the board.
  2. Nope. Car is dark. The hatch light comes on when I open the hatch. That's it. I asked the repair shop to have a look. They saw the mod and said, "sorry."
  3. Thanks. Yes, both map lights and the backseat dome come on when manually turning them on. I also replaced the stock bulbs with LED. I checked and rechecked the connection.
  4. I did this a long time ago and it worked great for a few years. Then the lights wouldn't come on at all when opening the door. I can turn them on manually, so they work. Any ideas why they stopped working when the doors open?
  5. Not nearly as active as I was in 2005. Came across the site after buying my car in June. Still driving it daily at over 228K miles.
  6. So you still have to take the whole dash out to do the driver's side?
  7. Thanks so much for verifying. I saw post on the other forum but saw that it was an 05 Outback with the 3.0 six. I fell much better now. The local dealer said he can have a 72131AG27A in a day.
  8. I need a driver's side HVAC blend door actuator (Part # 72131AG12A), but it is discontinued. Weird, because the two other OEM components on the passenger side are still showing available. It looks like I'll have to scour the salvage yards but are there any other sources for hard-to-get parts? Can this part be fixed?
  9. Search isn't working for me. Can anyone help with removing the driver's side console trim (by your right knee)? It looks like I need to remove three screws. After removing the center console ahead of the shifter, I see one screw, but how do I get to the others. I'm trying to get to the blend door actuator on the driver's side. I already did the passenger side. PITA, by the way. Thanks.
  10. Alright then. How about the HVAC blend door actuator? Since the weather turned colder, I noticed that I'm not getting significant heat in the cabin. This past weekend, I had a new radiator installed and asked the shop to look at the thermostat. The tech said I needed a new blend door actuator. I found a great Youtube video on changing the actuator out, and another with the noise a bad one makes. The noise in my dash sure sounds like it. The part is cheap. I hope to replace it myself as I'm getting quotes of $600 and more.
  11. Yes, the buzzing happens after the engine starts. My car wouldn't start this morning and it just needed a new starter. Would the starter switch buzz?
  12. OK, car wouldn't start today. Could that buzzing noise have been the ignition switch?
  13. It's a low hum/buzz that lasts about five seconds every time I start the car. It sounds like it's coming from behind the dash, between the instrument cluster and the head unit.
  14. 2005 Legacy N/A with a little over 200K mils. In the last week, I've noticed a humming sound from around the dash immediately after I start the car. It goes away in a few seconds. I don't know if it's a relay or something. Typically, I drive to work, leave it parked all day and when I leave at night, the same hum occurs at start up for a few seconds. Any ideas?
