  1. I realized that our 5eat front axles have male ends going into the trans. This will NOT work on an rs type 5mt as it has male ends on the front diff. ... What now? I'll have to get 4th gen LGT components. Bagggghhh.
  2. i tend to question using the use of an auto brain on a manual transmission. I wonder if the fuel and boost maps are the same. In other words, how will the fuel and boost characteristics be affected by having a manual transmission? Dont manual cars have different peak boost levels for each gear?
  3. the center diff ratio has to match the rear diff ratio. which car did you grab these parts off of?
  4. according tho this http://northursalia.com/techdocs/trannychart/trannychart.pdf My 98 LGT 5mt. works with a 97 foz rear 4.11. If anyone can take pics of the stock 5eat axles. that would be great.
  5. Yes, also true. However, a lot of turboed 2.5rs and RSTI people are using the stock transmission. To my understanding the 2.5rs 5mt and 98 LGT's 5mt are very similar. Can you guys help me out? Any insight on this? -Steve
  6. Yes, very true. But I got a killer deal on said transmission and rear end for a killer deal.
  7. I'm gonna be using a tranny from a 98 Legacy GT wagon (TY752V2DAA) and a 97 Forester L rear diff (4.111). I'm wondering if the LGT auto axles will work with this transmission and rear differential. Also, which driveshaft should work with this combo? Thanks. -Steve
  8. Ok, it may be possible that an STI pedal box assembly can fit. There are minor differences but i think it can be made to fit.
  9. When its all said and done this should be made a sticky of
  10. Rick, YOU ARE THE MAN! If time and money werent issues for me I'd be right there with you doing this swap.
  11. Please share with us the wiring involved when you're through with it. I've decided to slowly piece together the MT RWD conversion. I'm gonna buy an sti pedalbox assembly to compare it to the Legacy's. Rick, If you could be kind enough to share some detailed pics of the manual pedal box you purchased so that we could have a general idea the differences.
  12. I haven't checked my thread in a while and realized it has grown quite a bit. I'm glad to see some motivation as I've had none. I've been busy with school and my 200k+ auto has been holding 280whp fine for the past 5k miles. EPS Dyno, What are you doing with the pedal assembly? Are you getting it from a MT LGT? Also, any follow up on your project? I'd like to thank you as well as everyone else for contributing. -Steve
  13. Ah right, I almost forgot about the DP. The neutral safety switch and also speed sensor will need to be wired up properly. ~Steve
  14. Hi everyone. I'm looking to do a manual swap on my 05 LGT. I've heard reasons not do perform this swap ie: "It would be more feasible to trade in your car for a manual LGT" or "An IPT upgraded trans would be easier" First of all, it is not at all feasible in my case and the feedback from a MT cannot be simulated from a subaru 5eat. If I did so, I would have more payments and a much slower car. I have yet to see a 5eat to MT conversion. A manual swap would enable me to unleash more power than my 205k 5eat can not handle. Being mechanically inclined, I am up for a new project and a challenge. I know I will be needing the following. - Manual driveshaft - Manual cross braces (possibly?) - Pedal box assembly - Master, slave - R160 diff - And a plethora of wiring I understand a Spec-b or 4eat drive shaft is compatible with the 6mt trans. and that the ECU and TCU are seperate so a MT ECU may not be necessary. It would be nice to keep my current 5eat ecu so I can retain my tune. My questions are: -What are the differences between the GD's Pedal box assembly and that of the Legacy's? Will I be able to use a GD pedal box? -Can the 5eat cross braces be altered to fit a manual? -What type of wiring will be needed? Other questions may arise. Thanks in advance guys. ~Steve
