Considering a set of stock wheels 17x7 5x100 off a 2005 outback. Looks like these are +48 offset.

Exactly. And I am taking the car to stage 1 when I do this. AFAIK stage 1 is just a tune no exhaust work needed. Car will probably stay at stage 1 forever - never planned on having to do this...
