Sounds like you hit rpm fuel cut. This happens sometimes when you modify. Solution is to have a proper tune, made specifically for your car, not an off-the-shelf.

Absolutely not. You could do a far more elaborate swapping of parts of the transmission and rear diff to get to something that would work, very frankenstein. It would be messy.
