It was either the rear bearing or center diff...

It was either the rear bearing or center diff that let go and resulted in lots of metal shavings.

You could try running the front on the stiff...

You could try running the front on the stiff setting and the rear on the soft setting. But it will probably still be tail happy. I would just send it back for the matching size.

Probably the caliper. The caliper is supposed to float on two metal pins. Sounds like it stopped floating and the outside pad was always being dragged on the rotor.

This is not true. Larger sway bars on a Legacy will not reduce grip at the limit. Larger sway bars will reduce the amount of positive camber gained while corning. This is always a good thing.

I would try setting the front sway to the soft...

I would try setting the front sway to the soft position and set the rear to stiff. Should definitely help and its free.:)
